This is the performance from the 70s with Andre Previn (London Symphony Orchestra). The older Rubinstein got, the better his performances of this concerto were.

By the time he gave this performance to commemorate his 90th birthday, he was literally blind from cataracts.

When asked how he could still play when blind, his reply was: “The pianoforte has always had eighty-eight keys, and the notes are always the same. After eighty-five years of playing my memory is all that is required.”
